Prospect flats incident
A MAN found dead in a Prospect flat had been a promising footballer who had trials with Arsenal as a youngster.
Father-of-four Granville Williams was found dead in his ground floor flat on Friday afternoon.
A post mortem examination on his body was 'inconclusive', it has also been confirmed.
Police have said further tests will need to be carried out before the cause of the 37-year-old's death can be established.
A 27-year-old man who was arrested following the discovery of the body has been released on police bail.
The death at the flats on Northumbria Close is being treated by police as suspicious.
A flurry of police activity began at around 1.45pm on Friday.
The area was cordoned off and residents of the flats were told they would not be able to return to their properties for some time.
On Friday evening police forensic experts arrived on the scene to begin an examination of the flat where the body was found.
Residents of the block were finally allowed to return to their flats on Saturday morning.
One of the residents, David Moncaster, said he had been shocked by Friday's events.
"I have only lived here for about four months so for something like this to happen is quite shocking," said the 18-year-old.
"I came home to find the flats taped off and the police wouldn't even allow me into my flat for five minutes."
Another resident of the block of flats, Wayne Gilbody, said he realised there was something wrong as soon as he saw the police cordon.
"There are a few problems around here but we have never had anything major like this," said Mr Gilbody.
