Keep vandals off play area

IT IS with interest I read of what is in the pipeline again for Manton's Radford Street area regarding transforming the allotment site into a community garden and play area.
This suggestion I totally agree with, as long as it is appreciated and not vandalised and used as a tipping ground.
I put questions forward at the council meeting only last week asking how many children (ages ranging from one to 14) is there in Bassetlaw wards both Retford and Worksop and how many children’s play areas are there.
In my opinion, Bassetlaw is not complying to Government’s requests i.e. for every 1,000 children, there should be at least one recreation ground. I’m waiting for the result from officer David Armiger.
I am disgusted with our council by allowing the state of the run-down land opposite our park and public library, which is rat-infested, a haven for druggies and overgrown... and all this next to the school and cenotaph on Memorial Avenue in Worksop.
In the past, this was a lovely council park which was well maintained for the public’s pleasure.
This a top priority, waste land for the council to clean up and restore back to what it was – a place to be proud of.
