WORKSOP Town have added two central defenders to the squad, ahead of tomorrow's vital bottom-of-the-table clash with Witton.
Karl Colley, a 6'4" defender who played under Peter Rinkcavage at Stocksbridge Park Steels, and 6'3" Tom Jones from Ilkeston Town have both joined the club.
Jones has joined Tigers on a three-month loan, while Kevin Dawson has gone out on loan to Wakefield FC to join former boss Ronnie Glavin.
Colley was believed to have a one-match suspension left to serve from a recent sending off for Hallam FC, but Tigers confirmed today that he, along with Jones, can make their Worksop debuts at the crunch clash with Witton Albion tomorrow.
Rinkcavage expressed his shock that Ilkeston had allowed Jones to leave.
He said: "I'm quite surprised they let him sign for us, he's played 16 games for them this season, and he's a very good player."
"He played against us and kept a clean sheet, and I don't know why he's not in their team."
And the manager was pleased to bring Colley into the fold.
The 25-year old began his career at Sheffield United, before spells at Newcastle United, Barrow, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Retford United, Sheffield FC, Alfreton Town and most recently, Hallam.
Rinkcavage said: "He's been training with us for a couple of weeks and we're delighted to get him."
"He's a very experienced player for a young lad, he's big and strong and he was fantastic for us at Stocksbridge."
Sheffield Star football writer Paul Webster believes Colley will add presence to the Tigers back four.
He said: "He's an uncomprimising centre-half, a big lad, very strong and physical and he takes no prisoners."
"The weaker side to his game is that every so often the red mist comes down, he's been sent off a few times for violent conduct."
"But he scores a lot of goals from set pieces and he'll bring presence to the Worksop side."
Webster sees Jones as a suitable centre-half partner for Colley.
He said: "He spent a lot of time at Sheffield FC and he's more of a footballing centre-half."
"He will compliment Colley, he's not as physical and he's got a good footballing brain. He can also play in midfield, but his main position is centre-half."
