PAUL 'Semtex' Daley exploded back onto the mixed martial arts scene on Saturday with a brutal knockout of previously unbeaten Slovenian Bojan Kosednar.
Daley made his return to the cage in front of 1,800 supporters at the Harvey Hadden Centre and sent the hordes home happy after landing a sweet left hook with just seven seconds remaining in round one.
The Rough House fighter took on Kosednar in the Cage Warriors 'Enter the Rough House 7' main event and was dominant throughout.
Daley had his opponent on the canvas twice before sending him to sleep. A knee thudded into Kosednar's midriff early in the bout, closely followed by a powerful body shot, and down went the Slovenian.
Unable to force an early stoppage, Daley backed off and despite regaining his feet, Kosednar found himself on his back again after failing in a takedown attempt.
With time running out in the first round, Daley timed a left hook to absolute perfection, connecting with his foe's chin and sending the partisan crowd into raptures.
They were already in good voice after roaring 'Judo' Jimmy Wallhead to victory over dangerous and enigmatic Brazilian Fabricio Nascimento.
Daley's Leicester-based Rough House team-mate ignored Nascimento's bizarre antics during the three-round fight and stuck behind his jab, systematically picking the Brazilian apart and impressing all three judges to take a unanimous win.
Nottingham fighter Wayne Buck was left frustrated after his battle with Italian giant Mattoe Minonzio was stopped due to a nasty gash under the local favourite's eye. Buck had looked in control in round one but had been unable to damage the Italian, and apparently sustained the cut when Minonzio landed a huge knee to the face - although Buck claims it was from a clash of heads and the result is being reviewed.
One of the evening's international imports is surely heading for stardom after taking his record to nine wins and no losses. Norwegian Simeon Thoresen barely broke a sweat before submitting Stockport fighter Matt Thorpe with a kimura inside the first minute of their fight.
Rough House lightweight Andre Winner was relieved when the judges scored his three-round bout with Wolfslair wrestler Abdul Mohammed a majority draw, despite being taken down on numerous occasions.
Winner's team-mate and coach Lee Livingstone locked on a slick triangle choke to end his fight with Doncaster's Wayne Murray in the first round, moving to 5-1 in MMA.
Cage Warriors bantamweight champion Paul McVeigh weathered a first-round storm to secure a rear naked choke and retain his belt, winning it outright, against powerful Irishman Steve McCombe.
