SATURDAY'S bottom-of-the-table clash was lucky number 13 for Tigers.
UniBond Premier Division
Witton Albion 2
Worksop Town 3
Tigers defeated Witton Albion, after failing to win in their previous 12 league games.
Three new faces were introduced, with former Hucknall Town player-manager Mick Galloway signed late on Friday coming into the midfield, former Tiger Tom Jones returned to the club on a three month loan from Ilkeston Town and he was joined in the heart of the defence by Karl Colley who has signed from Hallam FC.
Gareth Holmes was also expected to make his debut but failed a fitness test.
The first chance of the game saw Witton skipper Brian Pritchard head well over the bar, before a good move from the Tigers ended with Kev Davies' cross just behind Jones.
Matt Glass then showed good pace and skill to get to the by-line but his cross just failed to reach Chris Adam.
The all important first goal went to the Tigers on 12 minutes.
In another good move down the right, Glass found Kevin Sanasy, his cross was chested down by Andy White and he swivelled and fired a right-foot shot into the bottom far corner of the net.
The Tigers were now well on top with Glass and Adam causing problems down the flanks and Colley and Jones winning everything at the back.
There was no surprise when a second goal came for the Tigers, but what a goal it was.
Witton Albion number 10 Mike Moseley had a shot straight at Steve Hernandez, the young keeper looked up and found Adam with an accurate throw.
The winger was just 30 yards from his own goal as he set off, weaving in and out of tackles.
The winger continued to the edge of the Witton box before unleashing a tremendous left foot shot into the bottom corner with keeper Greg Smith rooted to the spot.
With a two goal half-time lead the Tigers needed a good start to the second half, unfortunately a poor decision from referee Mr Johnson gave the home side a life line.
The ball was played into the edge of the box to Moseley, who was clearly backing into Jones, and as the defender tried to steady himself, the referee awarded a penalty for pulling, a decision that clearly upset the Tigers number six.
From the spot-kick, Mark Smyth hit it low to Hernandez's right.
The home team were now lifted from this gift and started to come into the game and gained an equaliser on 59 minutes.
Again the referee was involved, Mark Drew ran straight into Galloway and gained a free-kick, this was floated to the back post where Pritchard got to it and headed it into the bottom corner.
So, suddenly a game the Tigers were in control of, seemed to be slipping away.
White had a volley saved by Smith, Sanasy had another volley well blocked and Adam had a 30yard shot fly just wide.
With just six minutes of the game remaining, Galloway got the winning goal.
Adam was fouled wide on the left, Galloway curled the free-kick into the danger area where everybody missed it, including Witton keeper Smith, and the ball found the far top corner.
Such were the celebrations, substitute Scott Lowe received a yellow card for entering the field of play without permission.
The Tigers still weren't finished.
A long ball out of defence found substitute Gary Townsend on the half-way line.
He took on the home defence, got into the box, with Glass in front of an open goal, but brought down by Dan Schwarz.
The Tigers first penalty of the season in their 24th competitive game of the season was crashed against the post by Kevin Sanasy and the ball bounced to safety.
