Lee Westwood was happy enough with his score of 75 after the first round of the 137th Open at Royal Birkdale, although he feels his putting needs some work.
Westwood was five over par in the clubhouse, but was one under over the back nine after a birdie and eight pars.

He reflected: "I feel I was happy off the tee and in my approach all day, but I really never got to grips with the greens all day."

"I need to work on the rhythm to my stroke, it was poor today and it has been poor for a while. I struggle when the greens slow down."

"That's something I'll work on but I'm fairly happy with where I am."
