TWO Worksop St John Ambulance cadets were highly honoured at their annual inspection at their headquarters on Central Avenue.
Aimee Rider and James Linacre, pictured right, who between them raised over £1,000 for the North Notts Cycle Response Unit, were among cadets receiving awards.
They raised the money by taking part in swimathons, duoathlons and bucket collections.
The pair were also presented with their 100 hour service shield for providing first aid cover for over 100 hours.
James was also presented with the Grand Prior award – the highest award a cadet can obtain – while Aimee was nominated as the Cadet of the Year for Worksop Cadets and received her silver award.
“The cadets have been working hard towards a number of subjects and awards over the past year – the latest being personal safety,” said a spokesman. “These subjects count towards the Grand Prior awards.”
Seven bronze awards were given out to Jonathan Stretton, Lloyd Widdup, Chilufya Mulenga, Bryony Rose, Hannah Reeves, Samantha Gilfillan and Laura Allen.
While the silver award was also awarded to Shannon Bassett.
“The cadets have also been working hard for their service awards by providing first aid cover at events such as the Worksop Half Marathon, the Robin Hood Marathon, flag days in Worksop and Blyth Players’ productions,” said the spokesman.
“And Robert Furby, who has recently moved up to the adult division, completed 300 hours as a cadet and received his 300 hours certificate.”
During the ceremonies, trophies were also awarded to Jonathan Stretton, who received the attendance trophy, and Chilufya Mulenga for the most caring cadet.
The cadets were supported at the inspection by the Notts Cadet of the Year, Emma Brown.
