A 57-YEAR-OLD ex-miner armed himself with a baseball bat and attacked a man at his daughter's home in Bircotes, Nottingham Crown Court heard on Monday.
Edward Briscombe, of Suffolk Road, Bircotes, admitted causing actual bodily harm to Brett Riddell on 13th September.

Briscombe had been charged with the more serious offence of aggravated burglary but the prosecution accepted his plea to the lesser charge.

He had been remanded in custody since the attack but Judge Michael Stokes, the recorder of Nottingham, said he would hear an application for bail later in the week.

He added that he was likely to grant bail unless there were good arguments against it.

The judge adjourned sentencing until Friday 31st October when the full facts of the case will be given.
