FIREFIGHTERS battled a derelict building fire in Worksop for more than three hours on Tuesday night.
A call was received to a pavillion building at the old Vesuvius plant, on Sandy Lane, at about 10.30pm.
Five appliances attended the 70x90-metre structure, and had to pump water from the canal to put out the flames.
A Notts Police spokesman said the fire investigation team attended the scene last night. They concluded that the fire was most likely started maliciously.
But because the building was set for demolition anyway there will be no further investigation.
